Some things were worse back then...but a lot of things were better and people often forget those better things. Like sitting down together as a family for dinner, making time for laughing and talking. Figure out what your kid is doin', how he's thinkin'. It's important. Don't forget it.

The new Lars von "Queer" (and I mean that lovingly) vessel, Antichrist, is the best material this Dane has come with since Europa. At times a bare bones meditation on violence and nature, at others an operatic black and white art house circle jerk. Overall, the film is driven by two central devices: beautiful photography and invincible lead performances. Willem Defoe and the oh-so-pretty Charlotte Gainsbourg work wonders together. Convincingly erotic chemistry takes a sinister turn at the films end to absolute brutality. The viewer cannot help but realize something HORRIBLE is going to happen by the time this movie is over, which makes for a nerve racking watching experience. And yes, the climax sure is HORRIBLE. A hand crank drill through the leg and self-inflicted cliterectomy are two personal favorites among the numerous atrocities. After finishing Antichrist, I felt instilled with a dark and mystical sense regarding the woods. What does it all mean? Who cares.

Internet, its time we talked about Straight Up. I don't care what PSA's you've seen, Straight Up fucking owns them.
