"The weapon's easy. It says here in the clipping that the victim was strangled by a brown woolen scarf."
"Man's or woman's?" asked Charlie Carter eagerly.
"It doesn't say."
"God damn it," Charlie growled. "Why don't newspapers get the facts? That's an important clue. Of course, if it was a man's scarf, it might have belonged to Stetson. But if it was a woman's, I'd be willing to be that he murdered Bertha or Anne or Loretta."
"Very high-powered deduction," commented Joe without enthusiasm.
