Lou Adler directed two movies. One of those was Up in Smoke, the other was Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains. The latter is from 1982 and features a young Diane Lane, Paul Cook and Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, Paul Simonon from The Clash, and Fee Waybill from The Tubes.
The film follows three young girls who start a punk band and tour the country with a couple of aging rock stars being driven around on a bus by musician Barry Ford, who also wrote most of The Stains music in the film.
There is also a part where you get to see Diane Lane IN DA NUDE.
BOOTS. Boots was her trademark. Boots was the name she chose for herself. Boots were her good-luck charm...and her evil omen. BOOTS. It was not her real name, of course. She had lots of names: Janie Callaghan, Boots Calhoon, Mrs. Paul Warwick...and others. None of them fitted exactly...but each labeled one facet of her complicated personality. BOOTS. A bitch on wheels...headed for fame and riches as a top nightclub and TV personality...or headed for Hell in a handbasket of her making.
This is the story of BOOTS - and the many men and women she used...and ruined...along her perilous path to the top - or the bottom. There was nothing she wouldn't do. Murder was the least of her sins. The only question was: which sin would finally catch up with her?
The newest phenomenon on America's torrid sex scene, girl gangs. Gangs of teen girls, banded together for kicks; sex, violence, any kind of kick. The latest dimension in the liberation of the female is graphically chronicled in this book. You'll read about girls, no longer the victims, but the perpetrators of mass rape; clubs devoted exclusively to lesbianism; even the hard, leather-jacketed girls that straddle a motorcycle as if it were a man. The demure, teenage virgin of yesterday is gone. In her place is her swinging sister, playing her new role for all it's worth.
A SHOCKING, OFTEN FRIGHTENING, EXPOSE OF TODAY'S HOPPED-UP TEENS!
From Girl Gangs by Dexter Knapp and/or Barbara Hoffman, 1968
Have not been able to get enough of these girls lately. Their prolific discography built up in such a short span of time does not help either. Pocahaunted is Amanda Brown and Bethany Cosentino, two LA based weirdos. They paint their faces and wear crazy costumes and play really funky music. Some have called them "the Olsen Twins of drone."
Brown and Cosentino already have about two dozen recordings under their belts. There is plenty to explore here, kids.
THISalbum, Island Diamonds (2008), is a good place to start.
Annie Hardy is a confirmed 10 but I haven't heard anything from her in YEARS. She's still alive and kickin', thankfully. After looking her up, I found out she does some radio show out West in L.A. You can listen to Annie performing a Misfits medley HERE.
