"XX" BECOMES #1 SUMMER REVENGE ANTHEM // FUCK! DON FLAMENCO DIES IN FIRE
Fuck! Don Flamenco (pictured above as cats) are at it again, kiddos. Twenty tracks deep and they've still got it-- all the wash, crush, crash and blip you want, with all the hypnotic layering you really need!
The video (in traditional f!df collage) is definitely a necessary part of the experience. Dead eyed models glide around trailing fabrics in underwater-reverse. Speaks for itself.
XX radiates its way through the first 7 minutes of clattering drum beats and wandering guitar and will have you searching for your bong (in your hand, addict). The last minute or so though, is what really makes it for me. The beat tightens up and the collapsing tones start to fall right into place and...
well...this is a 20th Anniversary after all so, sadly, it ends with me not getting laid, alone in my basement, writing on some stupid website.
like what you see/hear?

Whet Sinema / Cute Girls Play Weird Music DOUBLE HEADER
Lou Adler directed two movies. One of those was Up in Smoke, the other was Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains. The latter is from 1982 and features a young Diane Lane, Paul Cook and Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, Paul Simonon from The Clash, and Fee Waybill from The Tubes.
The film follows three young girls who start a punk band and tour the country with a couple of aging rock stars being driven around on a bus by musician Barry Ford, who also wrote most of The Stains music in the film.
There is also a part where you get to see Diane Lane IN DA NUDE.

Cute Girls Play Weird Music, 4th Ed.

Have not been able to get enough of these girls lately.
Their prolific discography built up in such a short span of time does not help either.
Pocahaunted is Amanda Brown and Bethany Cosentino, two LA based weirdos.
They paint their faces and wear crazy costumes and play really funky music.
Some have called them "the Olsen Twins of drone."
Brown and Cosentino already have about two dozen recordings under their belts.
There is plenty to explore here, kids.

Cute Girls Play Weird Music, 3rd Ed.
Annie Hardy is a confirmed 10 but I haven't heard anything from her in YEARS. She's still alive and kickin', thankfully. After looking her up, I found out she does some radio show out West in L.A. You can listen to Annie performing a Misfits medley HERE.

Fuck! Don Flamenco is a semi-musical alien growth inhabiting an NES and merging with its advanced technology. Probably. In any case, check em out on the links and enjoy their newest contribution to paranoia at large. Word.

NO TIME FOR WESTERN LOVE SONG
Damo Suzuki wants you!
Specifically, he wants you to be a "sound carrier" and jam with your band. He is on a never ending tour (founded 1997) and only plays improvised shows with unknown local artists. Yes, he might be crazy as shit-- but if I got a call from Damo and he wanted to jam I would say fuck yes.

Cute Girls Play Weird Music, 1st Ed.
These Finnish ladies are sisters and call themselves First Aid Kit. I listened through their first record Drunken Trees and thought it not too bad, reallll woodsy. Have had a hopeless crush on these angels for a while and have always enjoyed the above video. You can read more about the dynamic duo at their WEB SITE.
